A picnic in Autumn.
Fall had just arrived, and a picnic was in order. Emma and her two girls savored the last light of the setting sun, while sharing slices of banana bread her eldest had proudly baked the night before - all on her own. (It was quite delicious.) I can’t help but think that autumn is the most beautiful season of them all. It’s also the most fleeting. Soon the leaves will be gone, the trees will stand bare, and we’ll find ourselves yearning for spring to bring back its green. Not unlike mothers themselves, watching their daughters grow into who they will become.
